Single-family housing starts increased 20% yoy (0.8% sequentially), to an annual rate of 613,000. That’s the highest level since July 2008, supplementing the strong order growth reported by several U.S.homebuilders in calendar 4Q12. All four U.S. regions grew vs. the prior year, led by the West at 46.3%. Starts in the South rose 14.1%, the Northeast 13.6% and the Midwest 13.4%.
